Motivation Monday - Week 2

We hope you enjoyed the Vision Exercise last week. This week we want to talk about the Power of Goal Setting.

It is so important to set daily, monthly and long term goals. Don’t be afraid to Dream too bIg, nothing is impossible. If you believe in yourself, you can achieve it.

If you have never set yourself goals, don’t worry, there is no time like the present and we can help you do just that.

Believe it or not the brain is a goal seeking organism. Whatever goal you give to your subconscious mind, it will work night and day to achieve.

A goal however must meet two criteria, It must be written in a way that you or anyone else could measure it. For example, ‘I will lose half a stone’, is not as powerful as ‘I will weigh 10 and a half stone by 9am on Friday 30th June 2017’. However, on several occasions I have not reached my goal within the timeframe that was written down and have queried this with the experts. However, they have assured me that the time frame is not as important as setting the goal in the first place. So if you haven’t achieved the goal, just reset the timeframe.

One of the best ways to get full clarity on your goals is to write them out in as much detail as possible. If there is a certain car you want to own, write down its colour, the interior, the model, the size etc. And then set a date by when you’d like to own it.

When you write it all down, your subconscious mind will know what to work on. It will know which opportunities to hone in on and help you reach your goals.

Personally I write my goals on 3 x 5 inch cards and number them all on the top right hand corner. The ideal number of goals to write is 101, but this is quite difficult to do, I have around 72. Below is an image of what the cards look like…

You really need to stretch yourself with your goals, they need to make you feel slightly uncomfortable, and even a little fearful. Do not beat yourself up if you can only come up with say 30 goals.. As the year progresses, you can keep adding to the goals.

Once you have them all written down, reread them all, and then bundle them together with an elastic band.

The really important thing is to carry your goals with you at all times and to read them every day. The more you read them the more your subconscious mind will work to make them come through. It is best to read your Life Vision (detailed last week) and goals first thing in the morning.
